Well this has been a WONDERFUL week for our club! We saw the start-up of a new K-Kids program at West Broad Elementary school. The program currently has 16 participants. The faculty advisors are Ms. Julie Meyer and Ms. Pam Seeley. They began by discussing some of the things that the children were interested in. Mentioned were picking up trash around the school, painting the schoolyard equipment, and fundraising. At their next meeting they will begin the process of electing a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Adam Kearns is serving as Kiwanis advisor. This new K-Kids club will be meeting every other Wednesday at 3:30 at the school. If you see Adam, make sure you thank him for undertaking this project.
Patriotic Pride!!
Our Patriotic Pride Flag project got the biggest boost ever this week from the VFW and American Legion. Both Larry Taylor, Commander of the VFW at Harris and Eakin, and Bernie Brogan, Commander of the American Legion Don Gentile Post 532 invited Kiwanis to speak at their Board meetings regarding the Patriotic Pride project. After explaining the project to the respective clubs, each not only decided to help us sell the contracts to the community, but have agreed to take one each of the five flag holidays to put the flag out at the homes who contract with us. We can never thank our veterans enough for what they have done. Fly your flag high and proudly and if you see a veteran, make sure to let them know how much we appreciate them.
HELP OUR CLUB!!
Well, good news and not so good news. The not so good is that we didn't win the first round of the Pepsi Grant contest. The good news is that because we finished in the top 100 of our category, we were automatically entered into the second round. If you have the faith, we can make this happen. This round of voting began at midnight on March 1st and ends at midnight March 31st. You can vote one time per day per email account. Hilltop kids will thank you!

Anyone interested in chairing the Farm Science Review or the 2010 Newspaper Sale is asked to contact Pres. Vicki as soon as possible. We would like to get these projects in line now in order to eliminate the last minute scramble. If we want these projects to continue, we will need a volunteer or two to coordinate the events.
Our speaker for our February 25th meeting was Randy Lawson, Director of the West Side Baseball Group. Randy has invited us to use our trailer and serve concessions on Saturdays during baseball season at Rhodes Park. This is a wonderful fund raising opportunity for Hilltop Kiwanis and we certainly thank Randy.
The Membership Committee has three prospective members. Make sure you tell them what a great job they're doing!
